#77 The Stud
Braden Bartosh, junior, is a student at South and enjoys being involved in South athletics. Since his freshman year, he has been a part of the football team.
With hard work and dedication, he joined the Varsity team with open arms his sophomore year. On a Wednesday like any other last fall, he was at his house when a spasm came upon his body. Not knowing what was happening, his parents took him to the hospital immediately. Twelve hours later he was still in pain without any IV’s. Abruptly, his second season as a football player came to an end.
“I was in disbelief on how fast something I loved was taken away from me,” said Bartosh.
As his third year rolled around, he did not let what happened in the last season affect him. He went into it with positive thoughts, and because of that he earned the position as a starter. At a practice with his team, Bartosh started to feel the cramping sensation in his body for the second time.
“I was terrified. I didn’t know what I would do without this sport for another year,” Bartosh said.
He calmly went to the trainer where they then called an ambulance. This time around he was finally given an IV to subside the pain. He spent 24 hours in the hospital for the doctors to keep an eye on him.
“Thankfully I was only out for one season, and I am still playing for the team that I love,” says Bartosh.
‘Til this day, the doctors still do not know what happened to Braden, but nothing will stop him. He plans to play the rest of his high school career, and hopefully four more years at the college level.
