On Friday’s Home Opener, Panther fans got a sneak peak of what this season holds for South Football. South came back from a 3-19 deficit to defeating the Platte County Pirates, 31-19.

The nail biting comeback was led by senior QB, Matt Suchanick, with 253 passing yards and three touchdown passes. Suchanick also ran in a 10 yard touchdown.

Nathan Sharp, senior Wide Receiver, has been a crucial part of South’s offense so far this season. Sharp had three receptions, two touchdowns, and 56 receiving yards.

Junior Receiver, Gage Warren, had seven receptions with one touchdown and 127 total receiving yards.

South’s defense played a massive role in the win with a second half shut out. Seniors Michael Suchanick, Cameron Gillespie, Ryan Owens and Dylan Owens each had 10 tackles. Tyler Duncan, senior, had a clutch fumble recovery late in the third quarter, keeping the momentum going.

It’s been over a year since South has won a home game and the team really started the year off strong with a huge win. South Football plays St. Joe Central this Friday, 9/13 for the Homecoming game. Make sure you show out for another panther win!
