Record-Breaking Race

The beginning of the boys cross country season started off with a flurry of new personal record-breaking for both the Varsity and JV teams. Unsurprisingly, frontrunner Quentin Worley showed the other schools the power of the panthers with a tight third place finish in the varsity 5K, improving upon last year’s time by 20 seconds.

Worley wasn’t the only runner with an impressive PR either. Ethan Mick, #2 on South Varsity, shaved off almost a minute from last year’s time. What makes these records especially impressive is the fact that they were clocked in at the first run of the season.

With such an outstanding start to the season, Mick has a very positive outlook for the future of this season.

“I was very surprised. I didn’t think I’d run that fast,” Mick said. “Of course, I’m happy about it. Since it’s the first race of the season it just shows how much better I’m gonna get from how good I already am.”
