Putting Panthers; Featuring Izzy Bethany
Some may think of golf as a fun, light-hearted game to play on the weekends. For Izzy Bethany, a sophomore at South, golf is more than just a game to play for fun.
Her love for golf stemmed from her mother, who plays golf and works at a country club here in Kansas City. Bethany had grown up around the environment and always had the wits for the game.
As a freshman with only two years of experience, she earned a spot on the girls golf team with hard work and determination. Playing junior varsity was a dream come true for Bethany and her mother.
“The excitement was unreal,” said Bethany.
One year later she is onto her second year with the team and is playing on Varsity.
“I feel good saying it’s my second year being a part of this. I like playing for South because getting to know the girls who love this sport as much as I do is really cool. It’s super fun and something I look forward to every time I go to practice,” said Bethany.
Bethany proved that anything is possible no matter your experience or age. She shows that, to some people, girls golf is more than just a weekend activity.
