You walk through the hallway and see that everyone looks like they came fresh out of the 80’s. You can thank South Stuco for getting almost the whole school fired up for Homecoming. 2019 South Stuco has completely revamped their whole program and it might be the best it has ever been.

Assemblies were something that South students either loved or hated. With what seemed like each assembly getting more and more pointless to some kids, Stuco realized something had to be changed, starting with the sponsors. South brought in Jennifer Mattson and Kent Cramer as the new leaders of Stuco, along with seniors Anna Knittig as president and Grace Andrews as Vice President and juniors Skyelar Nelson as secretary and Coleman Reese as treasurer.

“The improvements that have occurred in the past few weeks have already surpassed my first two years at South. We are surrounded by a group of people who care about South”, Reese said.

The assembly that Stuco hosted on the first day of school brought tears to Mattson’s eyes as she described the feeling to the South students during a class meeting. Bright lights, games, music, and the brand new Spirit Stick made each grade get out of their seats and make as much noise as possible. The drummers played the iconic Rage Cage anthem with glow sticks, the dance and cheer teams got the student section riled up for the beginning of the year, and everyone was starting to get into the swing of things.

Stuco’s main goal for the school year is one thing, to get as many kids passionate and proud of their school as possible.

“B3. Be you, be here, belong. That is our new motto on how we are incorporating all students to find their place at South”, said Nelson.

From what South has seen so far, this is just the beginning of the fun filled school year that South Stuco has planned for us!
