Siblings At South
Imagine on your first day of freshman year walking into school not having to worry about any upperclassmen picking on you. This is what it’s like when you have a sibling in the same school.
Cassity and Dylan Taylor are just some of the few siblings within the same school at South. Talking to both of them, you can see some positives and negatives of having a sibling at the same school.
“It’s nice because I get to spend more time with him, when before I didn’t have enough time to,” said senior Cassity Taylor.
Cassity also mentioned that their relationship is already close, but they have grown closer throughout the last 2.5 months of being in school together. She also talked about how she feels a lot closer to Dylan rather than her other younger sibling.
In contrast, Cassity also said, “it gets annoying, too, because he thinks he can just come in the senior hallway whenever he wants,” a thing that most seniors don’t tolerate.
For the most part, her brother Dylan, enjoys having her at the same school as well.
“I get to have a ride to school every morning, and it’s much more fun than riding the bus,” said Dylan.
Some other perks Dylan said that he has going for him is that “since my sister is a senior, I know a lot of senior girls which is nice.”
He also mentioned that “some of my friends joke with me by calling her hot.” Dylan stated that he doesn’t really care when they say that stuff, he just ignores it.
He also explained how sometimes it can be embarrassing having her at the same school.
“Sometimes on spirit days I will act like she’s not my sister, because of some of the outfits she picks to wear,” Dylan said.
Senior Brylie Goff also talked about how she enjoys having her younger sister at South, as well.
“My favorite part is being able to hear about all her drama. And see what boys she talking too,” said Goff.
So having an older sibling be able to help you walk in to school on your first day is just one advantage however there may also be some small downfalls.
