Going with the Flow of your Day
Wake up, get out of bed, get ready for school, go home, do homework, go to bed. It’s a never ending cycle for students at South. Everyone’s routine is different.
Seiler Grubb, freshmen, is on her phone and/or talking to friends. Its well known that almost all teenagers are on their phone before bed. Others such as Emily Sanchez and Haydn Schimtz, both freshmen, watch Netflix or Youtube before bed.
Grubb has to have lots of blankets and sleep with a dog, while Sanchez has to have less blankets. Grubb, Sanchez and Schimtz all need the fan on to sleep.
“It can’t be too hot and I like the rumble of the fan,” Schmitz said.
Sanchez has to have it pitch black when she’s trying to go to sleep. Grubb, however, needs to have a light on because she is scared of the dark. Schmitz can’t have any lights or music or can’t have their parents tv on because then she can’t “concentrate” on sleeping.
“I listen to music on my phone while I’m sleeping, I guess,” Sanchez said
The times that they go to sleep vary among them. Grubb goes to bed at around 2 a.m., Sanchez goes to sleep around 11 p.m. and Schmitz said it depends on how tired she is.
“I don’t really go to sleep at a specific time; it’s more of how tired I am I guess,” Schmitz said.
Grubb wakes up at 5:50 a.m. to get ready for school. Sanchez wakes up at 6:15 a.m. to get ready for her cousin to drive her to school. Schmitz wakes up at 6 a.m. on weekdays and on weekends, wakes up “whenever her brain wants to”.
Sanchez nor Schmitz have a routine in the morning. Grubb wakes up in the morning, gets out of bed, get dressed, brushes her teeth, then goes back to sleep until the bus comes. Before she leaves, if she has time, she grabs something to eat on her way out.
“I need as much sleep as I can get,” Grubb said
Grubb sometimes eats an apple or banana before school. Schmitz sometimes eat cereal and Sanchez never eats breakfast.
Wake up, get out of bed, get ready for school, go home, do homework, go to bed. Its a never ending cycle. Just like the Earth turns indefinitely, we all have a routine that we do without realizing every day around the same time.
