High School Vs Club Sports

Many high school athletes compete in club sports, but how do the two compare to each other?

One is more fun, more serious, has better practice and, more competitive are all the things that can change when you go from high school to club sports.

A big part of sports is the fun factor of it. Many students had very different opinions about which was more fun for them. 

“High school is more fun. I get to play with friends, represent the school and, play against a lot of friends,” said Legend Spencer, sophomore.

Spencer was one kid who thought high school beat club sports. But there were still some students that though club sports were more fun than high school. 

“I have more fun during club season. We get to travel more and we get to play better competition,” said Mudia Reuben, sophomore. 

Students had varied opinions when it came to which was more fun. But when it came to which one the students think is more competitive, there wasn’t too much competition. All the students said that club sports just had better competition.

“When you play a club team, those kids come from all around. It’s like a little all-star team, but with high school, you just get kids that live in the area,” said Myles Mead, freshman. 

When the competition gets better, the focus and serious level have to come up. Many students said that club was more competitive but there were some that said high school was just more serious. 

“Club is definitely more serious. You have to pay a lot of money just to be able to play,” said Spencer. 

Some students said the competition requires more focus and just better opportunities for college. There were also students that thought high school was more serious.

“You see your teammates every day and kids at school know the scores so it just means more, plus you see your coach almost every day of the week,” said Noah Reuscher, sophomore.

One thing they have in common is practice. Many students say that they both have serious practices. When it came down to which was more serious, it varied by each student.

High school and club sports both have more enjoyable things about them but at the end of the day, they aren’t that different.
