The Sophomores of South
If you are a sophomore at South, you have made it through your first year of high school. You have survived being the little fish in a big pond, and are one step closer to being the big fish.
Freshman year was a mix of good and bad experiences for many students at South.
“I loved freshman year and I felt like I made a lot of new friends throughout my classes,” said Megan Neale, sophomore.
Students say that high school was a great opportunity to make new friends, especially because of the size and population of our school.
Although, by sophomore year, students say they “lost a lot of [their] friends from freshman year,” according to Jillian Eidsness, sophomore.
High school drama can break apart a lot of friendships throughout the years.
Friendship isn’t the only thing that changes in sophomore year.
“My classes are definitely a lot harder this year,” said Gracie Painter.
Painter and other students can agree that “freshman year was easier,” said Elano Alvarez (sophomore).
During sophomore year, students started taking more, or even their first, AP classes. This could be why most of them think that sophomore year is a lot harder.
Although the classes are harder and friendships have changed, students say that they like sophomore year a lot more.
“I feel like I am much more mature this year, and I already know the building and my way around everywhere,” said Maddie Fosmoe (sophomore).
The sophomores are excited to be one step closer to being the big fish in the pond.
