Chloe Bowman: South’s Golf Star and Triathlete

Chloe Bowman (junior) is not only a golf star, but also a track and dive star. She’s been on varsity in all three sports and she is the first triathlete in two years. It took lots of time and dedication for Bowman to achieve this goal, but she set to achieve it her sophomore year and put lots of time, practice, and dedication into lettering in all three sports.

Bowman says that out of the three sports she plays at South, golf is the one that she practices with the most and that it has taught her so much. She has learned skills such as patience, which has helped her in life, on the course, and with playing other sports.

Bowman works the most with golf as it is the easiest to work on alone. She just wrapped up her 2019-2020 girls golf season and will begin dive in the winter, following with track in the spring.

After practicing for three hours every day of the week, Bowman would still go to the course on the weekend, pushing herself to become even better. She wanted to be the best of the best for the golf season.

Bowman says her golf season didn’t begin the way she wanted it to, but as the season went on, Bowman continued to improve and ended up playing the best she ever had in the new season. As she started to adjust her stroke to best fit her swing, it led to her winning first place in tournaments and matches and eventually making it to sectionals. Bowman hopes to improve her swing even more and make it to state next year.

“I’m going to miss seeing my team everyday,” said Bowman, “they are such a funny group of girls and made golf so fun.”

For now, she looks forward to what dive and track has in store for her this year.
