Aubree Koren Verbally Commits to Baker

August 19, 2019 was the day senior varsity soccer player Aubree Koren received one of the best things an athlete can get.

On this day, Baker University assistant soccer coach reached out to Koren, offering her a full ride scholarship to play for them.

Koren said that the coaches would come to her games and watch her. After they reached out to her, she was given the opportunity to go watch a practice and meet some of the players.

At the practice Koren said that the coach told her she would get a lot of playing time. She also said that the other players seemed very nice and welcoming.

Another pro Koren is looking forward to is that the South goalie is also going to Baker. “Since she’s going there it will be nice knowing someone and I’ve already played with her,” Koren said.

However Koren also said “My biggest struggle is probably going to be balancing time with soccer… Since I have such a hard major, I don’t know how I’ll find time for practice and studying.”

For Koren, it all started 13 years ago when she started playing soccer. Her past teams include Galaxy, Vadar and FCKC Academy. Koren’s current club team is KC Athletics Premiere.

Koren also plays for the Girls South Varsity Soccer team. She has played all four years of her high school career. Last year, Koren contributed to the team by scoring four goals.

Teammate of Koren, Sophia Dunn, junior, said, “Aubree is a great person to have as a teammate. She works very hard and pushes the team to do better. We are very alike because we are both very competitive.”

Koren said that she is very excited to be Baker’s starting center back of the 2020-2021 season.
