Saying goodbye to the Seniors
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, South hosted their volleyball senior night honoring Rachel Francis and Jamison McClaran.
Although the transition from high school to college can be difficult, there are some positive aspects of it.
“This year I’m familiar with everything and everyone,” said McClaran.
This makes it easy to bond with teammates and build closer relationships.
“Your senior year is bittersweet. Everything is your last thing which can be both good and bad at times,” said Francis.
South’s volleyball program has a special place in both Francis and McClaran’s heart since both have been playing since freshman year.
“I have been on varsity for my whole high school volleyball career,” said Francis. “I was benched my first year on varsity but I still got a great experience.”
Not only has South’s program helped them meet new people and grow their skill level, but it also gave them many opportunities to play at the collegiate level.
“Next year I’m attending Benedictine College and will be playing volleyball there,” said McClaran.
This is one of the many offers she got to play in college. Going into college she won’t forget all the memories she made in high school.
“This season has been amazing for me because I have made so many memories that I will hold onto forever,” said Francis. “Senior night was an emotional rollercoaster but I loved seeing my friends and family all gather to watch me play.”
South’s Varsity Volleyball team celebrated their senior night victory against Lee’s Summit winning 2-1.
