Concordia’s Commit
Annika Munch commits to Concordia University
“Relentless, fun, intense.”
This is how Coach Chris Farmer describes 17-year-old Annika Munch, who has found her new home at the University of Concordia, Nebraska.
Munch verbally committed Oct. 16 to further her academic career in education and athletic career as a soccer player.
“If I didn’t play a sport I would get fat,” said Munch.
Munch decided to start looking for her perfect school since her junior year at South with the help of her parents and club coach, Sara Matthews. Matthews has been coaching Munch for years.
Munch has been playing club soccer as well as high school soccer. Munch has been on South’s Varsity team since her freshman year as a defender. Her coaches are Coach Farmer and Coach Jared Byrne as well as retired coach, Joseph Toigo.
Munch was spoken very highly of by her coaches.
“She knows her role and helps other players understand their role on the field,” said Coach Farmer.
Munch has been playing soccer for 14 years, since she was four.
“I love to play soccer so I knew high school wouldn’t be the end of my soccer career,” said Munch.
Munch has many supporters including her soccer coach, Farmer.
Coach Farmer said, “ Her desire to succeed and to do the best she can makes her stand out from other players”
Munch will be finishing out her last year at South while playing her final season as a panther in the spring and starting her college career in the fall of 2020 at Concordia.
