Homework is Not Beneficial To Students

On average,over students spend about 10 hours on homework weekly according to Oxford Learning. Students are spending most of their childhood through teenage years completing school work and its not beneficial. 

Homework causes a lot of stress and anxiety to students especially as the work starts to get hard. About 1 in 5 students suffer from rising levels of anxiety, stress and depression due to homework.

That is most of our school’s students. We are already seeing rises in mental health problems in teenagers before they even experience the real world.

About 40 percent of high school are disengaged from school. Homework decreases the enthusiasm to learn in students. Students walk into the beginning of the school year with a lot of excitement but after a couple weeks, most students just stop caring.

72 percent of parents believe feel that homework is the cause of household stress, according to Oxford Learning.

Homework consumes students extracurricular activity and social times. This can also have an affect on students’ relationships with their parents and friends. Mental health problems such as depression can also arise. 

There are a lot of things that can be done to make homework more mangable to all the students. 

By providing students with all the materials and resources needed to complete they have a higher chance of getting it done and it will also decrease stress on students.

Free tutors or after school help could also really be valuable to students.

By taking all of these necessary steps, students then can be able to complete their homework and actually gain some important knowledge needed for the future.
