South Has Stopped Trusting And Rewarding Students

This year South changed the incentive from having a card status based on your grades and attendance, to teachers handing out ribbons for one week out of every month.

Students are mad and need change. The incentive needs to go back to what it was last year.

The new incentive is unfair to students who make good grades at school. It awards nothing to the students that deserve it the most. Instead, we are handing out ribbons to random students. Teachers are either not handing them out at all, or giving them to their favorite students last minute.

South needs to give students more breaks. We are all teenagers stuck in a building for eight hours, with no rewards. Students get one break throughout the day, a 25 minute lunch.

If we want everyone to come to school and be happy to be here, we have to make the environment more welcoming. Students need to be trusted and rewarded for doing well in school. We are making students feel like kids by not giving them trust. Students might as well still be in middle school.

The seniors this year have had the same card system all high school. South decided to change it and now the seniors have nothing to look forward to. Seniors this year are treated exactly like freshmen.

By South taking away the right for students to leave early and travel during tutorial, it is hurting the school. The parking lots are crowded with everyone rushing at once. It was safe last year because there were two groups leaving at two different times.

Students traveling during Tutorial benefits students who need quiet work time. It gets all of the students out of the classrooms that do not have work.

Things need to change and they need to change fast. Next semester, South should go back to the card system we had last year. This would make students happier to be at South.
