Little Orphan Annie
The South theatre department, through a heavy workload and a stressful set of weeks, was finally able to perform their rendition of the classic musical “Annie,” to resounding success.
“Annie” made it through three straight nights of a packed theatre filled with eager audiences sat elbow to elbow all excited to see the bright performances on stage. One of those members was Renz Breen, Senior who thoroughly enjoyed the show.
“I loved getting to see my friends on stage singing their hearts out,” Breen said. “My only regret for the night was forgetting to bring flowers to give to the cast and pit afterward.”
Having personally gone to the show myself, I can corroborate that assessment as I, too, loved the musical. “Annie” was my first South theatre production, but after attending the opening night, I can solemnly say I wish I had gone to more shows in years past, and I fully intend to go to as many as I can in the future.
With leading actors, Sally Green, Sophomore, as the titular Annie and Cole Bracken, Senior, as Mr. Warbucks, this show was helmed with polish and finesse.
“I think we had a great opening night,” Green said. “But after that, we just got better. From the first rehearsal to the final show we kept improving, and I think that was probably my best work on stage.”
All in all, the South theatre troupe knocked it out of the park with the musical this semester, and I for one am seething with anticipation as to what they’ll show next.
