Dancin’ To The Top
On Saturday, January 25, The South Side Girls dance team competed in a regional dance competition at Lee’s Summit North High School. The team performed both a Precision Jazz routine and a Hip Hop routine, placing second in both. The team coaches, Caitlyn Uribe and Emma Freeman, were overall happy about the outcome of their performances, as were most of the team members.
“I was super happy with how the team performed and how they did their best,” Laura Distafano, junior member of the South Side Girls, says. “Jazz was much stronger than our last competition, too. All of our hard work is starting to pay off, and hopefully we will keep improving before we go to state.”
Team member Avery Glover, senior, was also very pleased with how things went for the group. “I think that there is still room for improvement before state, but I’m okay with that because we wouldn’t want to peak at a regional competition,” she says.
Overall, the girls are happy with how they did at the regional competition, and they hope for the best at nationals next month.
