Twenties Pandemic

Influenza to COVID-19

As COVID-19 made its way around the world, the only question we have is, could this be a coincidence? In the 1920’s Influenza was spreading rapidly. Now a century later, we have a new problem.

From 1918-1920, Influenza made it’s mark in the world. Without a vaccine for this virus, 20-30 million people total were killed as a result of this pandemic.

Could you imagine COVID-19, going around for two more years? People staying inside their houses helps a lot, but it is driving everyone stir crazy. Scientists and doctors are working their hardest to try and put an end to this.

“A new model predicts coronavirus deaths will peak in the United States on April 16.” Srikanth said.

Right now, the United States has the highest amount of cases confirmed testing positive, with an estimate of about 403,000 cases. Worldwide, there is about 84,000 deaths total.

The flu is still a problem today, but we have vaccines and we know what to expect once the season arrives. With this new outbreak, it is hard to know what to do in the situation.

As Influenza made it’s mark in 1920, COVID-19 will now be going down in history.
