Staying Positive and Making a Better Me

It would be really easy to process this whole new situation we are in in a negative way. It’d be very easy for me to complain about a lot of things. Like having my last day of high school and not even knowing it, prom and graduation getting cancelled, etc. But I have decided to make a deal with myself, that I am not going to let myself sulk in these difficult times. I am going to stay positive, and make myself a better me.

“Never let a bad situation bring out the worst in you. Be strong and choose to be positive.”

This is a quote I found on Pinterest in the very beginning of our quarantine. I wanted some words to live by during this difficult time to keep my head up, and I thought these words were perfect. We as a country are in an unthinkable situation. No one ever expected something like this would happen, and we’d be quarantined for over a month. I knew when I was faced with this reality, that it would be a great time to better myself, while I have all this alone time.

I started off small. Reorganizing my room, and dedicating a space only for school work. Adding a whiteboard calendar and a planner to keep me on track, and to create a schedule for myself. Next I started walking my dog, about 2 miles everyday. That’s something we are both loving. It is such a blessing to be having such beautiful weather that allows us to be outside. And lastly, I started bettering my health. Man is it hard to keep me out of the stocked pantry, but it’s worth it. I am eating healthy and started doing at-home exercises to stay active. I know it is only the first week, but I am making a promise with myself to keep going.

I am choosing to be positive in this bad situation. If I chose otherwise, nothing would get done, and I would be in a bad spot. So I encourage you to choose positivity, because even in all this darkness, there is still a light you can shine in yourself.
