Copper Who?

Allyson Light (senior), was bitten by a copperhead snake that was inhabited near the outdoor classroom. Light was outside for her Bio II class,

“At first I thought I was poked by a thorn or something”, Light said.

After realizing it was a poisonous snake, about a year old, she claimed that she remained surprisingly calm. Immediately, the teacher called the ambulance and Light was taken to the hospital.

“I stayed in the hospital for 4 days. For treatment I had to do 10 hyperbaric oxygen treatments, and I was also put on a lot of pain medications like morphine and fentanyl”, Light said.

On top of all this treatment, she is also going to complete physical therapy to regain the movement back in her finger since the bite was on her first knuckle. While currently in the healing process, the doctor has told her that it looks like it is starting to heal faster and faster. While the recovery process is quite long, Light is just relieved it was not any more obstructing to her body than it already was.
