SSG’s Take 2020

Every year our dance team wows us with their moves at sporting events. This year looks a little different for the girls this year though. They are required to wear masks at all times even when performing.

“Knowing that we have waited so long for our year of lasts, and everything we looked forward to is different from what we pictured, especially dancing in masks makes it 10000x harder to breathe, dance, make faces, do vocals, everything,” said Tess Owens, Senior. These new rules are especially hard for seniors who play sports because it is their last year and it is nothing compared to what they have pictured.

On the positive side, there is always something to smile about for the girls. “Having six new freshmen on the team and getting the chance to become a lot closer and make new memories together is really fun. It’s really hard this year with covid and everything to have team bonding outside of school but I think we are all pretty close and really enjoying being around one another,” said Ella Fosnough, Junior.

Obviously there are so many downfalls this year with everything going on, but the South Side Girls are still finding ways to have a fun year of dancing.
