Fall Sports Come To An End

Boys Soccer: 

Boys soccer went 11-9 for their season. They ended their season with a tough loss against Liberty North in the district semi-finals. 

TJ Rouse, Sophomore, said, “Although our season didn’t start as planned, we were able to work harder and put more wins on our side.”

With the conference honors coming out, the team had many awards across the whole team. The team had four players make 1st team, three players make 2nd team, and six players make honorable mention. The team started off a little rocky but ended their season with many wins.

Football:

“The season went really well, many players stepped up and it really showed on Friday nights. It was truly a blessing playing this year knowing that it was not likely.” Quarterback Nathan Ricco, said.

Football had a great record this year going 5-0 in their district, and 8-3 overall. They ended up winning the conference easily for the first time in a long time. They ended their season losing against Staley in the district championship game.

Boys Swim:

The boys swim team had a great overall season. They ended up winning the red division conference.

“During the season, since there weren’t many meets we really focused on our training and it really paid off in the end.” Junior, Luke Brown, said.

The boys went to state and overcame 50 points as seeded to achieve second place overall. They placed the highest place at state in south history. With Alec Enyeart and Ethan Roach as state champions, and six school records being broken.

Softball:

The softball team went 17-13 overall for the year. They produced most of their wins during conference games, and got most of their losts from playing other tournaments.

“The overall season went really well for us. I always have so much fun with the girls!” Annabelle Winter, Junior, said. 

South softball won their conference with a great battle against staley for the title. After, the two teams played eachother for first round districts. South lost in a tough fight.

Girls Tennis: 

Girls Varsity tennis had a great record of 10-4 for the matches of the season. JV ended their season going 4-5. The team fought hard to get through COVID times, while also achieving victories in their matches.

Camille Verhoeven, Junior, said, “I think the tennis season went well, we bonded and I had a lot of fun playing with the girls.”

Boys and Girls Cross Country:

Boys cross country had a great season. Tyler Clippard was a stand out with making it to state and shedding almost a whole two minutes from his very first time this season. Girls cross country did outstanding as well.

“Both the boys and girls team worked their way up every meet we went to. I feel so lucky that we were able to have this season.” Said Junior, Shea Worley.

The girls made it to state to run as a team. They finished the season placing 7th when they were seeded 16th!

Volleyball:

The volleyball team had a record of 6-1 in there conference, they got second place overall. There overall record was 10-11. They played Liberty North in the district finals, and had a tough game with a lot of fight to end their season.

“This season was incredible. I loved my teammates and was so proud of the work we put in this year.” Said Junior, Keegan Good.
