When is the Right Time to Start Celebrating Christmas?

Everyone loves that time of year when Christmas lights are strung, the tree is put up, Christmas music plays and Starbucks starts selling their Christmas cups/drinks. But, when is the right time to start this? The obvious right answer to this question is after Thanksgiving.

As Halloween ended, any store that I walked into, Christmas decorations was covered from head to toe. In my neighborhood, there are already Christmas lights on almost every house on every street. This is way too early to start.

It’s like people have completely skipped Thanksgiving this year and jumped right into Christmas. It is still fall and we should still have our pumpkins sitting on our doorsteps, not gigantic inflatables of santa.

When you start listening to Christmas music too early, it is very easy to get burnt out of it. There are only so many songs that you can listen to, until you start getting annoyed when you hear any “Jingle bell.”

The only thing that I would say is a positive to all of this madness would be the peppermint frappuccinos and eggnog coffees that are back in season. These drinks from heaven should be around all year.

It is too early to be celebrating Christmas. We need to hold off on some of our favorite traditions until after Thanksgiving is over, so we can cherish them even more. One of America’s most important holidays should not be skipped.
