Internship > Classroom

This is The Brim at sunset during a styled shoot.

When signing up for the Professional Studies program I was so excited to be able to get a different experience outside of the classroom and really see my strengths and weaknesses when working in a professional setting.

I was very interested in small businesses and how they run, while also being intrigued by the event planning industry, and these two work perfectly together because usually event planners, venues, etc, have their own small businesses. This led to me submitting my video of why I should be in Professional Studies and what I would like to do.

After that I successfully got into the program and my facilitator, Kristen, and I talked a lot about where the best place for me would be and in the end, she found The Brim and we decided it would be a perfect fit.

All through the first semester I got to attend weddings every weekend, help set up, get to eat good food then take it all down at the end of the night. I also got to give tours during the week and I learned a lot about how to sell your services and get people to book with you instead of someone else.

Overall it was a great experience outside of the classroom to learn what my different strengths and weaknesses are in a professional environment to help me in the future.
