Becoming Annie
As I walked down to the room she was in, I became very nervous about which questions I wanted to ask her.
I began to ask myself what if she isn’t her today, what if I just interrupted the class, what if I broke both of my legs, in front of the whole class?
As I got closer to the room, butterflies began to fill my stomach.
When I got to the room her teacher then looked up at me from his desk and asked me what I needed, which I asked if I could speak with Sally Green for a few minutes.
A few moments later, she jumped from her seat and quickly exited the room, to where was standing.
She was very nice and very patient with me as I asked her my questions .
Last month, Green made the decision to audition for South’s upcoming musical “Annie,” because she says that she has a love for musical theater.
According to Green , when you are to audition you for productions at South, there are two sets of auditions.
For the first rehearsal you are given a short script that you have to read aloud, and the second, is an audition which you dance in.
Cole Braken, who plays Mr. Warbucks in the musical, says, “You don’t really get to chose what parts you audition for, you audition, and they (the directors) decide where you would be best fit. “
Green was a great fit because according to Rachel Bishop, who is a part of the orphan ensemble in this musical, “Despite being an alto she can reach the notes, and she has the looks down as well, with her freckles and curly hair.”
When Green found out that she got the leading role of Annie, she said “ I was more nervous than excited, and I felt a lot of pressure.”
Unlike many of her other cast members, she has to attend all of the rehearsals, since she is in almost all of the scenes.
Although she has to stay after school for a few extra hours, she enjoys spending time with her other cast mates, and the real life dog that they use for Sandy.
She also spends a great amount of time memorizing her lines so she doesn’t forget during her rehearsals.
She is looking forward to the upcoming performance, which will take place Nov. 14- 16.
