Business is Booming
Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos are a few of the names that come to mind when discussing forward thinking individuals in the twenty-first century. But here at South, seniors Stevie and Daryn Williams are creating their own lane for themselves, found within the fashion industry.
The Williams have an upcycled clothing account on Instagram. They upcycle t-shirts, paint jean jackets and sell thrifted items. Although they still are making a profit in upcycling their thrifted items, the painted jackets are their hottest item they sell.
“I was bored and I wanted to make a cute Mizzou jean jacket for myself. Then I realized other people wanted them too, and I could make good money,” Stevie said.
Each custom jacket takes about three to four hours to paint, not including the time it takes to come up with a design.
“People contact me with an idea for a jean jacket, and then I come up with a design and find a jacket for them,” Stevie said.
Their Instagram @sdg.designs has over 300 followers, and they have had over 20 customers.
