C-Team Just Wanna Have Fun
It’s normal to want to be part of a group in high school. For many, joining a sports team provides that group. But not everyone is a star athlete or maybe they just want to do it for fun.
At South the girls tennis c-team is a place that many go in search of that family relationship.
Ilhaan Khadar, sophomore, said, “I joined last year and it immediately felt like I was part of a family. It’s very inclusive and everyone gets along.”
While other teams are conditioning and training, the c-team tennis girls work on making lasting bonds with each other and having a good time.
“C-team is really fun. We play a lot of games and don’t do a lot of running. We like to do team bonding activities with each other,” says Khadar.
They often work in partners playing matches against each other for practice.
Some people on the team take the sport more seriously than others, but whether or not they are playing to succeed or for fun, being involved in an activity is beneficial to anyone. It provides physical activity, new friendships, a sense of responsibility and just something to do.
The support and love on c-team goes beyond just the players. Coach Glynis Chambers plays an important role, too.
Victoria Smith, senior, said, “Everyone is really supportive because we are all on c-team together, and practice is always fun with Coach Chambers.”
Grace Parrot, senior, also enjoys the practices with Chambers.
“She is really relaxed, but at the same time cares about each and every one of us. She makes the practices fun and switches up what we do every time,” says Parrot.
Through failure and success these girls will always have each others backs. The family made by joining the team has helped so many girls find a little piece of home at South.
