Chiefs vs. Broncos

The Chiefs are up 10-6 playing the Denver Broncos on Oct. 17. There are ten minutes left on the clock and they go for a fourth-and-one plunge for a first down.

In the pile up, quarterback Patrick Mahomes is buried under everyone, and as it clears out, it is clear he is hurt. Laying on his back, the trainer comes to help by twisting the young player’s lower leg back into place.

Mahomes’ injury quickly sent Chiefs Kingdom into chaos.

Shawn O’Brien, junior, said when it happened, he was with some coworkers at his bosses house so when it happened, everyone was in shock and waiting to hear that Mahomes wasn’t injured.

When it was announced, he had one reaction.

“[I] thought the season was over,” he said.

To help, he even jokingly said he would go as far as to “donate his knee.”

O’Brien said thinks that he will have a quick and easy recovery and be ready in time for the game against the New England Patriots on Nov. 12 2019.

Landon Jones, junior, watched it all happen from the comfort of his room.

Once he had heard the injury being announced he said, “I thought that he was done for… I may have cried.”

Jones said he feels strongly that Mahomes injury will affect the way he plays against the Patriots.

If he’s not affected by it and plays well, Landon says, “He’s a literal god.”

Ryleigh Ralls, junior, was with her dad in her living room when she saw it happen and said she was scared that after he was taken out due to his injury, the Chiefs wouldn’t win the game against the Broncos. She was very relieved to hear that the injury wasn’t that bad and that he was guaranteed a quick recovery.

The Chiefs also went on to beat the Broncos 30-6, despite not having Mahomes for the majority of the game.

With Mahomes sitting out against the Green Bay Packer, the Chiefs didn’t come out on top. However in recovery, hopefully ready for the Patriots.
