Class Ring Sales Soar

2022 Class Ring sales have sparked the interest of many at South. Students have different opinions whether or not it is important to buy a class ring.

Class rings are purchased mostly by sophomores and are worn to honor their graduation. They can be customized in many ways including material, shape, gem or stone and a variety of engravings.

Ron Kelly, Josten’s salesman, while selling them at lunch said that there are many different prices ranging from as inexpensive as $95 to as much as $5,000, but the average ring price is about $300.

Kelly said that it’s important to take memories with you to college. He also said that it is important to represent your school by buying a ring.

Bre Johnson, senior, said “I bought a ring because my mom wanted me to”.

Johnson got a diamond shaped ring and customized it with a white diamond, and engraved her initials and her graduating year, 2020.

“I wear it every once in a while,” Johnson said.

Jordan Horn, Sophomore, said “I don’t necessarily think it’s important to buy one, it’s just a good high school experience.”

Johnson said that class rings are a “good memory to have” and that they’re “just really cool.”

Although some have decided not to buy one, many sophomores have bought their class ring this year and will be able to carry their high school memories with them long after they graduate.
