COVID-19 Grad-SZN
Grad Season is a time for friends and family to say their last goodbyes, take their last pictures and to celebrate the seniors for finishing highschool and moving on to a new chapter of their life.
COVID-19 has put a hold on the class of 2020’s senior year celebrations, but for most seniors this invisible enemy is not stopping them from having a graduation ceremony. The ceremony will be on July 26 as of now and most graduation parties will be during the summer.
Josh Prososki, Sydney Warren, and Max Rosario are all planning on having a graduation party.
“It means a lot for me to have both graduation and grad parties because it is one of the last times I can say goodbye and see all my family and friends,” Rosario said.
COVID-19 has taken so much from the Class of 2020, but the seniors are keeping their heads up and trying to make the most out of their last few days of highschool and their summer to come.
“I think people should still be having grad parties, but should wait until the boundaries with COVID are a little looser so that we can all have more of a traditional grad party,” Prososki said.
As of now, May 15 is when Kansas City is scheduled to reopen. At this point, everyone is just keeping their fingers crossed the date doesn’t get pushed back anymore, seniors especially.
Hopefully COVID-19 won’t take away their last farewells to their friends and family. Having made it through the past four years of high school, they deserve at least that.
