Emergency for Employees
When all of the restaurants are closed, local gyms, and even some grocery stores, people begin to panic. But, what about the people who are working at these places. How will they make money?
One of the most popular things people have been using during this time, is doordash and online delivery. Dylan Owens, Senior, has been working for door dash and uber eats before the pandemic started, and now it is paying off.
“I am making more now than I did before. But, I have had to make some changes and wear a mask and always have hand sanitizer in my car to be safe.” Owens said.
But, not everyone has it as lucky as Owens. A lot of students work at grocery stores or local restaurants. Justin Harrison, junior, works at Hyvee and says work has been harder than ever these days
“ I’ve been having to make money in other ways, so I’ve been selling some clothes to try and make a little bit of cash.” Harrison said.
Lots of students are becoming creative and adapting to this situation by making money in other ways. With the safety precautions put in place, not only are students losing jobs, adults are as well. In the United States a total of 6.65 people filed for jobless claims.
As things are getting taken from us, it makes you realize not to take things for granted as it can get taken from you easily. Hopefully, things go back to normal so people can begin to work again.
