Fans Make a Comeback

Freshman walking in on the first day of school can be overwhelming and terrifying. FMP is a club to make getting acclimated to the school so much faster and easier.

FMP is a returning club at South with the intent to mentor the incoming freshman. Juniors and Seniors go into freshman tutorials twice a week to give freshmen presentations about events going on.

The upperclassmen join this club for A+ hours and because “the freshman need mentoring,” Taryn Brown, senior said. Class of 2020 had FMP’s their freshman year, but the past two years the club didn’t exist.

“My mentors could have done better,” Mary Garrett, senior said.

“The attendance and population of freshman in clubs was falling,” Garrett said.

This what helped bring FMP’s back to South. In the freshman classroom, presentations consist of homecoming norms, football games, and unspoken rules of South.

“It helps the freshman know when events are and where events take place,” Brown said.

“I have some freshman in my tutorial already going to clubs I go to,” Renz Breen, senior said.

The FMP’s this year have a lot of hope for change in the freshman’s attitude and school involvement.

“I do think this program will have an actual effect on the freshman this year,” Brown said.
