Freshmen Frenzy

This August, a new group rolled into the building at the bottom of the totem pole.  Yes, we’re talking the freshmen. Like any average class of freshmen, this class came in confused and eager to learn the way high school works.

The Class of 2023 soon found out that freshman year is all about learning.  From navigating around the building to standing in the rage cage, there’s a lot of ropes to learn as an incoming ninth grader.

“I’ve learned a lot about this school even though I’ve been here for just a month,” said Katie Kramer, freshman.

Hopefully by now the freshman can get to their classes easily, are cheering at sporting events and are participating in extracurriculars like Kramer.

The freshmen this year also get to experience the FMP program, with upperclassmen mentoring the students.

“The FMP program is pretty cool and is helping me learn even more about South,” said Dylan Love, freshman.

Freshmen get to learn the unspoken rules of South along with ways to handle the freshmen classes, balancing school and activities/sports, etc.

It’s clear that this freshmen class is unique in many ways; we will see how the freshman adapt to the rest of the year.
