Gilmore Girls Review

Gilmore Girls was a hit comedy-drama when it first came out in 2000 and continues to shine on Netflix. Gilmore Girls joined Netflix in 2016 and has gained huge new audiences throughout the years.

Gilmore Girls takes place in a small town in Connecticut that seems like it is straight out of a fairy tale. The 7 seasons explore the life of Lorelai Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham, and her daughter Rory Gilmore, played by Alexis Bledel. The story takes you along the way of Rory starting her first years of high school through college. Lorelai and Rory are an unmatched duo who are the closest a mother and daughter can be.

Rory Gilmore is the town sweetheart. She is intelligent and studios and the town adores her. She loves to plan and organize and her life gets a little jumbled when things don’t go as planned. She is also an aspiring journalist and is obsessed with reading and writing. Rory is genuine and sweet and gives off an introverted vibe. She has numerous love interests throughout the show that you may or may not be rooting for as you watch.

Lorelai Gilmore has many appealing qualities as well. She is very witty and outspoken. She is extremely independent and had to work her way up to the top after leaving her parents at just 16-years-old to raise Rory. Although a little selfish at times, she always puts Rory first. Lorelai is charming and hard-working and makes the most out of life.

Let’s not forget about the grandparents of Rory, Emily and Richard Gilmore. After Lorelai cut her parents out of her life when they were not supportive of the pregnancy they had no relationship with their granddaughter. Rory wants a better life for herself and to go to the top high school in Connecticut. With Lorelai’s financial situation Rory finds herself needing to go to her grandparents for a little help. This starts a chain of weekly Friday Night Dinner at the Gilmore’s Estate. This is when the relationships between Rory and her Grandparents develop and you see the relationship of Lorelai and her parents. Emily and Richard can be tough but they always mean well and this family dynamic will leave you on your toes.

The life of Lorelai and Rory is something audiences can relate to and leaves you with an emotional appeal to all the characters. I would rate this show an 7.5/10. I describe this as more of a background show. Watching while doing homework or other activities can keep you entertained and viewers are still able to follow along with the story. There is no talk of Gilmore Girls leaving Netflix soon, so go watch!
