Girls Basketball

As winter sports are starting, the girls’ basketball team are lacing up their shoes and getting ready for a new season. The girls’ basketball team had a great season last year, but sadly lost a lot of seniors. There will be some challenges this year, but the girls only see themselves growing as a team, both physically and mentally.

“It is very different having a split of five seniors and five sophomores on varsity, but it has been going very well. We have been getting along not only on the court but off the court as well.” Brooke Jones, senior, said.

There are only two returning varsity players out of the ten on the team this year. Not only that, but it’s a very young team and more than half the girls on varsity haven’t played this level in high school yet. The girls know what they are capable of and see a lot of growth for the upcoming season.

“I think we have a lot more potential than we originally thought this year. We lost a lot of amazing players so we might not be as good as we were last year, but we are going to play our best no matter what.” Taryn Brown, senior, said.

Girls basketball has a lot in store for us this year. Come show out on Dec. 9th at 7 p.m. to cheer on the varsity team for their first home game against Blue Springs South!
