IGOR at South

Tyler the Creator is a California-based rapper who has been a growing name over the past 10 years. He has written produced & arranged five studio albums from 2008 to 2019 all by himself, managed & created his clothing brand “Golf Wang” & on top of it, throwing his own music festival with loads of artists every year. 

At South, there are many students who have a lot to say about Tyler. Several had favorite songs of his.

Amy Graham, junior, said, “‘F*cking Young’ is probably my favorite, not perfect though.” 

Makayla Gaddis, senior, and Ethan Mick, senior, said “Boredom” was their favorite song since it is laid back and chill to listen to at any time.

Mick said his favorite thing about his music was the production, while Graham said it was how much it changes and how he gets better with every album. 

“[I like] how diverse he is and his creativity and artwork for his albums,” said Gaddis.

All three students said they knew about his clothing brand Golf Wang and said the clothes were cool but the prices are so expensive. The prices are usually $35 for a t-shirt & $80 for a hoodie. The brand has always been popular for its use of colors & absurd designs.

“The designs are really nice, I just don’t wanna spend 40$ on a shirt,” said Mick.

More and more people are getting into Tyler the Creator, especially after his last album “IGOR.” which was released in May of 2019 Tyler was just in Independence for the IGOR tour, and many students attended. 

All in all, if you haven’t listened to Tyler, The Creator you should check out his music & you will not be disappointed.
