Killer Corona

South students debate on whether or not it is safe to travel over spring break.

With spring break fast approaching, the frenzy surrounding the Coronavirus just seems to be increasing. Hundreds of South students have planned their trips over the break, and the infamous virus is halting many trips.

Taryn and Taylor Brown, seniors, are supposed to go on a cruise over the break, but are now seriously doubting their upcoming voyage.

“We have been planning this trip for the past several months and have been so excited for it,” Taryn said.

With all of the recent cases that have been popping up throughout the world, there is an overwhelming fear of getting the Coronavirus, or getting quarantined in the place you are traveling to.

“Now that there are so many red flags, I don’t think we are going to go on our trip anymore. We bought trip insurance so it wouldn’t be a huge deal to cancel it, but it is really devastating,” Taryn said.

The Browns were supposed to go on this trip with Sophie Hayes, senior. Despite all of the warnings, Hayes is still planning on going on the cruise.

“Not going on the trip that I have spent months being excited about it not on my agenda. Everyone is doing dooms day thinking and it’s ridiculous,” Hayes said.

No matter what South’s students are doing for spring break, it is important to wash hands and keep germ transportation to a minimum.
