Letter to the Editor Issue 1 Vol. 26
The last article in this edition of The View has sparked outrage amongst the student population, and rightfully so. Park Hill South claims to want everyone to feel a “sense of belonging”, how does an article that villainizes half of the human population help promote acceptance? I understand it’s an opinion article, however allowing it to be published is ridiculous. In the United States, men have nearly a 4x higher suicide rate than women. Articles like these that tell men that they’re not good enough and that they’re all terrible contribute to this. In our society, it seems to be acceptable to generalize men, but no other group. An article about how all gay people are terrible would likely not be printed, yet for some reason, it is okay to say these things about men. Is it the opinion of Park Hill South High School that all boys “suck”? This article leads me to believe it is so. I want a retraction printed for the vindication of my sex.
