Marvelous Maddie

As Maddie Winkler, junior, roams the halls of South she has no idea what kind of adventures will soon come her way.  Junior year can be one of the hardest and most stressed out years of your high school career and Winkler is just getting started.

“I am super nervous for second semester because I am taking three science classes and then my only other class is newspaper,” Winkler said.

Balancing three science classes, being a captain on the dance team, and spending enough time with family can start to become tricky.  The dance team is one of Winkler’s top priorities. She has been on the team for three years now and has worked so hard to become a leader for the girls to always have close by.

“I lead the team and everyone can look up to me or talk to me if they ever need to.  I just want to be a big sister for these girls,” Winkler said.

As Winklers junior year comes to a quick start, she plans on starting every day refreshed and ready to go.  Classes, waking up early, and practice after school will always be a struggle but it’s about walking through these halls not knowing what’s going to happen next that keeps one excited.
