Miss. Zamzow
Vanessa Zamzow is a freshman math teacher at Park Hill South. She has been teaching at South for 11 years and taught at English Landing Elementary prior to here. She even teaches a couple of college classes at Park online.
“I wanted to be a teacher because I love helping people and feeling like I can have a positive impact on the lives of students. I wanted to have a job that was meaningful and brought me joy,” Zamzow said.
A lot of freshmen experience a big change from middle school, to high school, so it is good they have a teacher they can lean into if they are struggling with the transition. Zamzow talks about how she helps them navigate their way through our big school and help freshmen feel like they belong.
Zamzow says the most rewarding part of being a teacher is seeing her students become successful not just in the classroom, but outside of it as well.
“I wanted to teach math because math was one of the few subjects that I was good at growing up. It came to me much more naturally than reading and writing. I also like knowing that typically in math there is only one solution to a problem,” Zamzow said.
A lot of students tend to struggle with math, so it is very helpful to have a teacher that can map it out in a way every student can understand and grasp.
It is so important to have teachers like Miss. Zamzow in a school environment who cares so much about her students and we are lucky to have her!
