Parading Through the Kingdom
This past week has been non stop celebration for the Chiefs win on Feb. 2. Wednesday Feb. 5 was the Chiefs victory parade in Downtown KC. Some devoted fans camped out all night, whereas others didn’t arrive til later. South student’s were part of the mixture of fans.
Max Pawela, junior, and his friends had a hotel room rented two weeks prior to the Superbowl in Downtown so they didn’t have to wake up as early as others.
Other than fans waking up early they also had to dress warm considering it was 30 degrees and snowing outside.
“I ended up wearing a long sleeve shirt, two sweatshirts, and a coat. Along with tights and two pairs of pants.” Pawela, said.
Since Pawela and his friends stayed the night in Downtown they had no problem parking or having to wake up too terribly early. Carly Gorombey, sophomore, on the other hand woke up at 4:50a.m. to get the perfect spot. Gorombey had a front row view of the parade near 11th and Oak. She also celebrated the victory parade with her friends.
“My favorite part was touching the Lombardi trophy and Tyrann Mathieu’s hand.” Gorombey, said.
From booking hotel rooms two weeks prior to the Superbowl, to waking up at the crack of dawn South students took risks to see their boys in red celebrate their victory.
