Park Hill 2034

The Park Hill School Districts plan for the next ten years of improvements.

Park Hill 2034 is a long-range plan focusing on improvements that need to be made throughout the district within the next ten years.

Alongside updates happening at all of the district’s buildings, Park Hill 2034 includes major renovations at Park Hill High School, Park Hill South, Russel Jones, and the construction of a new elementary school.

This Fall, Park Hill School District has reached out to the community and asked for their input on changes they would like to see. Now, the school district is moving into the next stage to establish criteria for the project and explore options.

Changes that need to be made at South in the next ten years:

  1. Many seniors felt unprepared for the college application process. This calls for South to improve their college counseling. A designated college counselor could help to serve as a resource for students. Students and parents could schedule one-on-one meetings to get guidance from the expert. Additionally, the ability to meet with a counselor more than once a year and build a relationship would be valuable to students. Marin Zink, a senior, thought college counseling could be improved by, “Having more often meetings to ensure goals are being met and foster relationships where students actually trust their counselors.”
  2. Administrators wonder why the bathrooms are getting torn up every day, while some of this may be due to immature students, it does not help that the bathrooms have not been updated since 1998. The bathrooms are disgusting and dysfunctional, sinks, soap, and hand dryers do not work and most door do not shut or lock. South needs to fully renovate all of the bathrooms in the school. If students had a sense of pride in their bathrooms because they were nice-looking and properly functioning, students likely would not destroy the bathrooms.
