Reboot Madness
Live-action does not compare to the creative, heartwarming, Disney animation films that kids grew up knowing and loving. The live-action Disney movie remakes must be stopped.
If Disney wants to produce movies, then they must make new ones; don’t destroy the original animations just to make more money.
While the live-action movies tend to give Disney more money, the Rotten Tomatoes scores don’t add up. The original “Dumbo” movie came out in 1941, when the economy was much different. The original movie made Disney $1.3 million, while the new live-action that came out in March 2019, made a whopping $170 million dollars.
However, if you take in consideration of the number of people who actually enjoyed the live-action versus the original, the comparisons are crazy.
The original Dumbo was given a score of 98 percent on rotten tomatoes, while the live-action was only given 47 percent rotten tomatoes. Disney may make more money off of the live-action movies, but whether people actually enjoy the movies is more important. This is because, in the long run, fewer people will watch live-action movies.
A great example of the comparisons of Rotten Tomatoes and money is the heart-wrenching “Lion King.” The original stole our hearts, and the emotional connection that we made with Mufasa and Simba can’t be replaced. The live-action “Lion King” was supposed to be an amazing movie, and it truly was pretty good. The price differences with these movies are absolutely crazy.
The live-action “Lion King” made a domestic sum of $473 million with it only being released for 24 days. The original “Lion King” grossed $40.9 million, and at the time this movie was Disney’s fourth-biggest opening weekend ever. The price range is truly crazy, but the Rotten Tomato scores truly show that the original Disney movies are better than the old ones.
The original “Lion King” was loved by mostly all and was given a rotten tomato score of 93 percent. The live-action was only given a score of 53 percent.
That’s exactly why the original Disney movies are better than the live-action remakes. The originals are what we connect to, and what our hearts loved. New shiny things can’t replace old dusty memories that have meaning, so Disney must stop the remaking of the original animations.
