Rival Teams Come Together For a Cause

Park Hill vs. Park Hill South games have always been some of our biggest games since South opened in 1998. On Oct. 7, the volleyball team came into the game expecting to win.

The girls have lost to Park Hill in the regular season for the past two years, which made winning this game even more important. They went all out, playing the best they have in weeks, and the team won the first two games with ease.

Abbie Day, junior, has been on varsity since her freshman year.

“We played really good. We’ve been in kind of a rut lately, so it was nice to play a game like that.” Day said.

The game was honoring breast cancer awareness, and everyone showed out in pink to support. Before the game started, some of the members on the team walked out with their mom or grandma that fought against breast cancer.

“It was so amazing, to the point that it made me cry because it was so touching.” Day said.

The Rage Cage, South’s student section, also made a huge appearance at the game.

“It was really cool seeing all of the people there because that has been the most I have ever seen there for all the years I have been playing volleyball at South.” Anderson, junior, said.

This win meant a lot for the girls for so many reasons. They hope to continue to play like this in the future games.
