Senior Cheer 2019-2020
Cheer seniors Nyla Talley, Bhry Cayton, and Sierra Lewis are in their last year of high school cheer. Comforted by their experiences and excited for the future, these three hardworking and committed women are on their way to start a new chapter in their lives.
After their last season of cheering at South football games, they will continue to cheer through basketball season. In addition to this, South Cheer placed fifth at Regionals and are moving on to State in four weeks.
Talley, having been a cheerleader since the first grade, said “I think my [favorite part is] just being on a team with people who all have the same passion as me”.
As a part of South Cheer for the last three years of her high school career, she has made irreplaceable memories and friendships.
On the South Cheer squad for two years, Cayton said she’s really enjoyed being able to “work with my teammates and the school and just be able to watch our freshmen grow”. She believes that the experience is much different from just being a student spectator and that it made her high school experience that much better.
Another important aspect of being a part of Cheer, according to all three seniors, is that you have to be dedicated. Lewis is another great example of the importance of dedication. Not only is she a part of South Cheer but also a part of All Star Cheer.
“I spend my whole life doing cheer now since I do two different teams, and so that’s all I’ve been used to the last four years,” said Lewis.
To these seniors, dedication and trust are key. Through their high school cheer careers, they have made memories they won’t forget and friends with whom they won’t lose touch. For the remaining months with our cheer seniors, let’s help them support the basketball team this winter and wish them luck at State!
