Senior South Boys State Lineup
By: EMMA CLARK
The boys prepare for state as they have nearly made it through the COVID-19 season. Senior night occurred for the six seniors as they wrap up their last season this crazy year.
Before introducing the seniors this year, I am going to explain the state qualification process because it is very different this year than last due to COVID-19. This year only the top 24 swimmers attend state for each event. In the past, it was top 32 with automatic state cuts and consideration cuts. There are no longer prelims and finals on two separate days, instead it is just timed finals for the state event. Finally, this year the boys have switched from Class 1 to Class 2, making it tougher competition because they will race against bigger schools.
We wish all the South senior swimmers, and the other boys best of luck as they head to state to compete November 13th. Below is a picture of each senior at their special night and their history at South.
Chris Wissmann
Chris has swam all South all four and has qualified for state all four of the years he has been a part of the swim program.
Clell Burdiss
Clell has also been a member of the South swim team for the past four years and has made his way to state each year he has been a part of the program.
Ethan Roach
Ethan was a transfer student at the start of his Junior year. He had come from Florida to South. Therefore, he has been on the team two years, and been to state both.
Nate Shaw
Nate has been on South swim team for 4 years, and has attended the state meet all four years as well.
Zander Livingston
Zander has been on South’s team for four years and has attended state each of those years as well.
Finn Hefferren
Finn is a fourth year swimmer and also a fourth year state qualifier for his final year of high school.
