Sliding into Baseball

The baseball boys are sliding into the season hot this year.  They have already started pre-season workouts and most of the varsity players have been in weight training.  They are expecting big things this year.

“The number one goal for this season is to bring the first district title back to South.  I feel like we have all the pieces to do it and this is our year,” Max Pawela, junior, said.

Last year the boys lost their first round districts game to Oak Park. It was an unexpected loss that fell out of their hands due to unforeseen circumstances.

“The whole varsity team will be returning upperclassmen, and we have all become really comfortable playing with each other.  This will be a key factor in improving our game from past years,” Will Fricker, senior, said.

The baseball boys are very motivated to making small improvements this year and hoping it takes them a long way.  The one thing these athletes are excited for the most is their Oklahoma trip in March. They play in a three day tournament and get to do team bonding on the side.  This is one of the prime moments for the boys to get closer and have better chemistry on the field. They say this tournament is a good gage for how the season might turnout.

“I am most excited to play with my friends and play the game I love at the same time.  This season should be a great one with all the upperclassmen together and working together,” Dylan Hufft, junior, said.
