South Side Tears

Five seniors completed their last performance last Friday night at the football game against Blue Springs South. Avery Glover, co-captain of dance team, was one of the seniors who had their last performance.

“It is really bittersweet. I am super happy about the memories I made and experiencing football on the sidelines with my best friends,” Glover said.

Preston field will always have a place in the seniors heart, as they move onto their next steps in life. Not only did this have a powerful impact for the seniors on the sidelines, but also the other members of the dance team.

“Losing 5 members can have a big impact on us as a team. It was awesome to perform on Preston Field for the last half-time together, and knowing we left what we had in us on the field. It truly won’t be the same without our seniors next year,” Maddie Winkler, junior and captain of the dance team, said.

The South Side Girls are not done with this year at South yet. The girls look forward to performing at basketball games, their spring show, and assemblies.

“It was super sad to see our last football game go, but I am also super excited for our competition season. We have a really strong team of technical dancers and we have some really cool dances planned this year,” Laura Distefano, junior and co-captain of dance team, said.

As football season comes to an end, the dance team is excited to gear up for their winter season!
