The Brown’s Final Season
Taryn and Taylor Brown are wrapping up their final season of basketball, and their final season playing high school sports together.
Taryn and Taylor Brown, seniors, are double the trouble when it comes to sports. They have been playing basketball and tennis for South since freshman year, and are currently in their final season playing for South athletics. They have been playing basketball for 13 years.
“I’m sad that I won’t get to play sports again, because I love playing so much, but I’ve been doing them for so long that I am excited to have free time and try new things,” Taylor said.
The Brown twins will not be playing tennis or basketball in college.
“College sports would take up a lot of time and that isn’t how I want to spend my college experience. I would rather focus on my academics and meeting new people,” Taryn said.
This season has been a big change compared to last season. There were only two people returning to varsity, since 8 seniors graduated last semester. Half the team consists of underclassmen as well.
“It was difficult at first to get into the swing of a new season with basically a whole new team, but now we have found our own rhythm and we’re playing a lot better than we started out,” Taryn said.
“Basketball is such a fun sport, and so I’m really going to miss playing it and being a part of a team. I’ll also miss working out by doing something fun,” Taylor said.
As the season is wrapping up, the Brown twins plan on soaking up every last second on the court.
