The Lover Era of February

Valentine’s day is arriving quickly as next Monday is the holiday celebrating love. Whether you are single, taken, or somewhere stuck in between, Valentines day is a great excuse to eat cheap chocolates and get a stuffed bear.

Another thing that Valentine’s day brings is the perfect time to listen to Taylor Swift’s 7th album, Lover. This under-appreciated album is easily Swift’s most romantic collection of songs that shows the many different ways to be in love.

The tour for this album, Loverfest, was canceled due to the pandemic. For that reason, I believe the album as a whole did not get as popular as it should’ve. The lead singles placed on the radio included Me! and You Need to Calm Down. These songs are definitely at the bottom of my ranking even though they have the greatest number of streams.

My top five off the album in no particular order are Paper Rings, Cruel Summer, Lover, Afterglow, and Death by a Thousand Cuts. All of these songs make me feel like I’m in this wild adventure through romance even though it isn’t true.

The album is filled with joy and passion as Swift wrote from her experiences with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Valentines Day and the whole month of February is the perfect time to have Lover on repeat.
